Understanding Waxing

Waxing is a form of EPILATION; this means that the hair is removed below the surface of the skin. The advantage of epilation over depilation (hair removed at the skin line-shaving etc.) Is that it will take longer for the hair to grow back. Also if epilation is Performed repeatedly on the same area over a prolonged period of time, the quantity of hair will be permanently reduced. Waxing is the most effective method of removing unwanted hair in both large and small areas. Hair can be removed with a minimum amount of discomfort. The BEESWAX is the one that we perform in this salon. BEESWAX “Hard Wax”: goes on thick smooth and warm, pulling it straight from the root without "strips" making it much easier on skin and resulting less pain. Any area with hair can be safely waxed.

About Brazilian Bikini Wax

Instead of simply removing the hair that would be seen while in a swimsuit, the hair is removed from the pubic region (Including the labia and bottom). To some people it means removing all the hair from the bikini areas, and to other means removing everything but a strip in the front.

What to expect of a Brazilian Bikini Wax Before:

Hygiene is a Must. If you have a morning appointment we recommend showering beforehand. Please arrive clean for your appointment. If possible wash you bikini area shortly before you appointment. There are personal wipes available if required. Women should avoid waxing during the three days prior to and the first three days of their period; the skin is more sensitive at this time. The ideal length of hair to wax is approx 1cm. If you shaved the bikini area it is necessary to wait between 2-3 weeks before coming to get waxed, otherwise it will be to short and we won’t be able to wax you. If your hair is much longer our waxing specialists can do this for you if it’s required. Expect a little irritation, especially around the face where the skin is more sensitive (we recommend Neosporin or A+D to relieve the irritation). If you get waxed regularly, your skin will become accustomed and you should not have the irritation. You should avoid making a wax appointment if you have sunburn, rashes, wounds, or open skin. Also please avoid putting any lotions or oils on the skin the day of the waxing appointment because the wax will not settle on your skin making it difficult for the aestheticism to pull out the hair. .

What do I wear?

Most spas and salon will provide disposable underwear, however it is necessary to keep your underwear on to better protect you and to make you more comfortable. We recommend that you wear some old and comfortable pair of cotton panties, no boy short.

A true Brazilian Bikini Wax removes the hair from the pubic line, over the labia and through to the back area, some people feel uncomfortable with having backside area waxed, so we will ask you before waxing there. To begin the hair is snipped with scissor if necessary, then we dust the area with powder, and wax is applied little at a time. The wax used for this procedure is Beeswax without strips, meaning it’s applied to the hair to be removed, it “shrink-wrap” around the hairs, and is pulled off after it dries. Relaxing is important as it causes less pain and helps to remove hair root easier.

After : How long does the results last?

After your wax the results can last 3 to 6 weeks depending on your personal hair growth rate. Warmer weather tends to encourage faster hair growth rates. In most cases, you will see minimal re-growth during the first 2 weeks, with a noticeable increase thereafter. Some areas may grow quicker than other; continued waxing encourages slower, sparse hair re-growth. And the more frequent you wax, the less painful it becomes
